Pennsylvania State University Fungal Plant Pathogen Database Center for Computational Genomics

The goal of the Fungal Plant Pathogen Database (FPPD) is to support the identification, detection, tracking, and risk assessment of fungal plant pathogens by cataloging the genotypes and phenotypes of fungal/oomycetes plant pathogens in a format easily accessible and searchable.

The FPPD will cross-link digitized genotype (DNA sequence-based genetic markers) and phenotypes (i.e. morphology, virulence, host range, fungicide resistance, toxin profile, etc.) of fungal plant pathogens at both the species and population levels. In addition, the FPPD will allow users

  • to perform phylogenetic analyses in order to visualize the evolutionary relationship between a newly isolated pathogen isolate and other isolates archived in the database,
  • to visualize the geographic origin of individual pathogen isolates via a map, and
  • to develop molecular diagnostic methods for pathogen detection.
